Records kept in the cab and a notebook
Seeding dates, spray applications and animal treatments get written in a notebook or simply remembered. Pulling a season's records together for a buyer, lender or program means retyping half of them in winter.
Spray records in the cab notebook, meat orders in a text thread and a buyer asking where a lot went. We build agriculture software for Alberta farms, ranches and food producers: field records, direct sales, traceability, seasonal crews and co-op member portals.

Seeding dates, spray applications and animal treatments get written in a notebook or simply remembered. Pulling a season's records together for a buyer, lender or program means retyping half of them in winter.
Customers order meat boxes or produce by email and text. Someone counts cuts on a spreadsheet, chases e-transfers and finds out at pickup that the same order was promised twice.
A buyer or inspector asks where a lot came from and where it went. The answer sits in invoices, labels and memory, and putting it together takes days you do not have.
Seeding, harvest and market season each bring different people for a few weeks. Scheduling, timesheets and orientation paperwork pile up at exactly the moment nobody has time for them.
An online store built for farm products: catch-weight pricing for meat, pre-orders for seasonal items, subscriptions or shares, and pickup or delivery by zone. Built on Shopify or WooCommerce where they fit, with custom work where they do not.
Platforms & e-commerce band: $9,000 – $28,000Seeding, crop inputs, spray applications, yields, animal treatments and movements recorded on a phone at the field or barn, even offline. Reports for buyers, lenders and programs come out of the same records instead of a winter of retyping.
Software band: $18,000 – $50,000Lots and batches tracked from supplier and input through production to each customer order, with labels and documents attached. A one-step-back, one-step-forward trace becomes a search instead of a week of digging through paper.
Software band: $18,000 – $50,000Sign-up forms, shift schedules, orientation records and timesheets for seasonal workers, connected to the tools you already use such as Microsoft 365, Excel and QuickBooks. Ready before seeding, not assembled during it.
Automation: from $2,500 per workflowOne login for members to see statements, documents, meeting notices and votes, and one place for staff to manage renewals and member records. It replaces the member spreadsheet, the unreliable email list and the binder of bylaws.
Software band: $18,000 – $50,000Depending on what you make and where you sell, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) can require a licence and traceability records that follow food one step back and one step forward. Email newsletters to customers fall under CASL, which expects consent and an easy unsubscribe. Customer and member details are covered by PIPA, and Alberta OHS legislation can apply to farms that employ waged workers. We build these records into normal work. This is general information, not legal advice.
Seeding, spray and treatment records save on the phone without signal and sync once you are back in the yard. Controls are large enough for gloves, fields, products and animals are picked from lists rather than typed, and spray conditions are entered at the time, not reconstructed that evening.
In detail
It replaces the notebook, the text thread and the spreadsheet with records captured once and used everywhere: field and livestock records for buyers and lenders, online orders that match what is actually in the freezer, lot traceability, crew schedules and member portals for co-ops. Each piece stands alone, so you start where the pain is.
Farming runs on seasons, and so does the build. We schedule discovery and launch around seeding, harvest and calving rather than in the middle of them, and we work remotely across the province, from Red Deer and central Alberta to Grande Prairie, with farm visits in the Edmonton region when seeing the operation helps.
Farm products break the assumptions of a normal online shop. Meat sells by the box or the cut at a weight you only know after processing, eggs and produce depend on what came in this week, and Thanksgiving turkeys are spoken for weeks before processing day. The store has to handle catch-weight pricing, pre-orders, subscriptions and pickup days.
Our own work includes a direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform for an Alberta specialty food producer. Farm stores bring edge cases that general shop templates skip: deposits on pre-orders, final charges once weights are in, delivery zones that change with the season and stock that has to match the freezer. A producer store is e-commerce website design on Shopify or WooCommerce where they fit. If you only need a clear producer website saying where to buy and when, that is a smaller project.
Good farm records are made at the time, by the person doing the work, in a few taps. Seeding dates and varieties, crop inputs, spray applications with rates and conditions, yields, animal treatments with withdrawal dates and animal movements all go into a phone app that works offline and syncs back at the yard.
Bin and inventory levels follow from harvest and sales entries. We build these as custom software because operations differ too much for one template: a cow-calf ranch and a market garden share little except the weather.
For businesses that need them, CFIA traceability records follow food one step back and one step forward: which supplier and lot an input came from, and which customer received each product. Whether you need them, and a licence, depends on what you make and where you sell. This is general information, not legal advice.
In software, every incoming lot gets an identifier at receiving, every batch records which lots went into it, and every order records which batch it shipped from. A mock recall becomes a search that takes minutes, and labels print with the lot code already on them.
Seasonal crews have to be found, scheduled, oriented and paid within a few busy weeks. We set up sign-up forms, shift schedules, orientation records and timesheets that connect to tools you already use, such as Microsoft 365, Excel or QuickBooks, so the paperwork is ready before seeding starts rather than chased during it.
This is usually business automation from $2,500 per workflow, not a custom system. Where Alberta OHS legislation applies to your operation, orientation and training records sit beside the schedule.
A member portal gives each member one login for statements, documents, meeting notices and votes, and gives staff one place to manage renewals and records. It replaces the member spreadsheet, the email list nobody trusts and the binder of bylaws, and it handles member data the way PIPA expects.
Newsletters and event promotions to members can still need consent under CASL, so consent is recorded on each member record from the start.
A producer website runs $4,500 – $12,000 over four to six weeks. An online store for farm products runs $9,000 – $28,000 over six to ten weeks. Record-keeping, traceability and member portals sit in the $18,000 – $50,000 software band, and seasonal crew workflows start from $2,500. Every project is fixed-quoted before it starts.
All bands are on our pricing page, and you own the code, data and accounts at handover.
Yes. Catch-weight pricing takes a deposit or an estimate at order time and settles the final amount once each cut is weighed. Customers see the estimate and the final weight on their receipt. We build this on Shopify or WooCommerce where the platform supports it, and with custom code where it does not.
Farm and food stores fall in our platforms and e-commerce band, $9,000 – $28,000, over six to ten weeks. The range depends on pre-orders, subscriptions, delivery zones and links to inventory or accounting. A simple producer website without online ordering runs $4,500 – $12,000. You get a fixed quote before work starts.
Yes. Records save on the phone or tablet and sync when it reaches Wi-Fi or coverage, usually back at the yard. Field, product and animal lists are stored on the device, so a spray or treatment record can be completed in the middle of a quarter section with no signal at all.
Yes. Member portals give members one login for statements, documents, meeting notices and votes, and give staff tools to manage renewals and member records. We design them around your bylaws and governance, handle member data under PIPA, and record consent for email under CASL where it applies.
No software makes a business compliant on its own. Our systems keep lot and batch records, link suppliers to products and customers, and produce a one-step-back, one-step-forward trace quickly. Whether you need a licence or a preventive control plan, and what it must contain, is for you to confirm with the CFIA or a food safety advisor.
We do not sell farm management subscriptions, precision agriculture hardware or equipment telematics, and we do not write food safety plans. If you already use a farm management tool, we connect to its exports rather than replace it. Hosting and support after launch are quoted separately, from $300 per month.
