Privacy policy
Who is responsible for your information?
GlassHead Tech Corp. ("Glasshead Tech", "we") is a federally incorporated company based in Edmonton, Alberta. We are responsible for the personal information described here, and we follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Our Privacy Officer answers questions about this policy, including questions about our service providers outside Canada: privacy@glassheadtech.com.
What information do we collect?
Only what you give us, plus the technical details every website records.
- What you send through the contact form. Your name and email address and, if you choose to give them, your phone number, company, the kind of project, a budget range and your message.
- Two technical details of each form message. The time it was sent and the internet (IP) address it came from. We use the address to stop spam and abuse.
- What you send us by email or tell us by phone. Whatever you choose to include.
- Server logs. Like every website, ours is run by a host that records requests to the site (IP address, browser type, page and time) to keep it working and secure.
The site uses no analytics, advertising or social media trackers and sets no cookies for visitors. Fonts and scripts load from our own server. The 3D build on the contact page runs in your browser, and nothing you type leaves it until you send the form. The site is meant for businesses, and we do not knowingly collect information about children.
Why do we use it?
To reply to you, understand what you need, prepare a quote and follow up on it. If you hire us, we use it to run the project and keep business records. Technical details are used only to protect the site and the form from abuse.
We do not sell or rent your information or use it for advertising, and we will not add you to a mailing list. A person reads every enquiry. We do not put enquiries into AI tools, and we make no automated decisions about you.
Who else handles it, and in which countries?
One service provider handles the website and our email: Hostinger International Ltd. It hosts this site, delivers contact form messages to us and stores our email. It may use your information only to provide those services to us.
Hostinger is outside Canada, so your information is collected, stored and processed outside Canada:
- The website and the contact form run on a server in the United States.
- Our email is stored on Hostinger's mail servers. Hostinger does not publish where they are. It runs data centres in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brazil, and your message may be stored in any of them.
- Pages and form messages travel through Hostinger's content delivery network, which routes each visit through a server near the visitor, in or outside Canada.
Information held outside Canada is subject to the laws of the country where it is held and may be accessed by its courts, police and security agencies. For written information about our use of service providers outside Canada, or to ask about it, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@glassheadtech.com.
We will also disclose information when the law requires it, for example under a court order.
How long do we keep it?
No longer than we need it for the reason we collected it.
- Enquiries that do not become a project: deleted within two years of our last contact with you.
- Client records: kept for the length of the work and anything the contract requires, then for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as Canadian tax law requires.
- Server logs: kept by Hostinger for a limited period for security and operations.
Deleted email can remain in our host's backups until those backups expire.
How do we protect it?
The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The form checks every message for spam and abuse, and repeated failed sign-ins to the site are blocked. Form messages reach us through a separate mailbox that is used for nothing else. Only the people at Glasshead Tech who need your information can see it.
If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will report it to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta and notify you as the law requires.
What can you ask us to do?
You can ask us to do any of these, at any time.
- Tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Stop contacting you or delete an enquiry. If we must keep something for a contract or the law, we will tell you what and why.
Email privacy@glassheadtech.com. We may ask you to confirm who you are. We reply within 45 days, the time PIPA allows, and there is no charge.
How do you make a complaint?
Contact our Privacy Officer first and we will try to put it right. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or, where federal law applies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Does this policy cover client projects?
No. When we build or run a system for a client, the personal information in it is under that client's control and is handled under our contract with them. We follow the client's instructions, and the client's own privacy policy applies to the people whose information it is.
When does this policy change?
When our services, our providers or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows the latest update. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
